Ibeyi is an Afro-French Cuban group with twin sisters Lisa-Kaindé Diaz and Naomi Diaz who sing in English, French, Spanish and Yoruba. Ibeyi means twins in Yoruba. I used the duos unique style in order to create hypothetical poster iterations to expand my creativity and knowledge of hierarchy, typography, layout and image orientation.
I started with a traditional grid structure and as I got an understanding of the structure experimented with the layout allowing myself to reach beyond the grid but still keeping an order and rhythm. Researching the groups style and previous branding I chose to use the Dissolve typeface as it fit the style and personality of the performance group. They have a very Humanistic, yet geometrical style and I thought the audience would gravitate more towards the familiar aspects rather than a recreation of the groups brand.
