Twine, Lace, Mesh: All You, All Mine is a 6”x6” experimental typography book with Japanese style binding. My process for creating the book first came with the vision of the end or beginning with the end in mind; how I wanted it to look and what it would be about. From there I thought about binding and book sizes and as I researched, I found images of the Japanese style and fell in love with the handmade quality yet professional capacity of the style. I enjoy tactile and meticulous projects so the elements within this book stems from that.
I then created the title based on the tactile nature of the book with its use of string and from that I was able to conceive a poem which talks about our interconnectedness and how we are all in some way, “stitched” together. All you all mine is a play on words, referencing the ins and outs and how we are in and of each other - connected. This closeness keeps us joined and never truly alone. The drawings are hand rendered and tell the story of life, the binding, the breaking down and the beautiful rebirth – a constant cycle of coalescence.
